The Supermom Reality TV Show which debuted in 2010 to widespread acceptance and huge followership on Nigerian Television is in its fourth season and still enjoying sponsorship from Procter & Gamble, makers of Nigeria’s leading household detergent Ariel and Promasidor makers of Onga seasoning.
Organisers of the show, Digital Interactive Media, Nigeria’s content powerhouse say ‘The Supermom Reality TV Show- Heart of Gold Edition’ which has been scheduled to start broadcast during the third quarter of the year July-October 2013 across Nigeria on syndicated channels will cause a paradigm shift.
Last season tagged ‘The Celebrity Edition’ saw Mrs Gladys Asuquo the mother of ace music producer Cohbams Asuquo take home the star prize of N2million while Fuji star Obesere’s mother Mrs. Omobonike Anike went home with N1million as first runner-up, the 2nd runner-up cash prize of N500,000 went to Mrs. Martinez Sanni the mother of pop star Skales. The winners made cash donations to orphanages of their choice respectively.
The theme of this year’s show ‘Heart of Gold’ is crested on the awareness that, but for the sheer sacrifice, love, devotion, care, attention, faith, belief, hope, inspiration and sometimes aspiration that women who dedicate their lives to nurturing displaced children, the society would have had more than its own fair share of social miscreants.
To them we owe some degree of the peace we experience. Their sacrifice of love is the gentle breeze that fans and soothes away worries, the ray of hope that springs up, the sacred assurance that calms troubled hearts, the light at the end of the tunnel, lightening up the hitherto disadvantage circumstances of the little feet, toddlers, children and young adults whose responsibility circumstances have made their business.
We cannot even begin to mention the beautiful colours of the rainbow that they paint the world of displaced or orphanage children with through their selfless actions.
Hence, these mothers are essentially the unsung heroes of our time and should have their names crafted in gold on the sands of time.
The Supermom Reality TV Show- Heart of Gold Edition not only seeks to celebrate mothers with a heart of gold, mothers who stopped at nothing to give meaning to the lives of children who are in no way biologically related to them, but to also preach the message of love and care from well meaning Nigerians to children who have now made their homes in Orphanages, Motherless Babies, Hospices or Private Homes.
