ELECTRICITY PROTEST: Festac Town residents under Amuwo Odofin LG Demonstrated Against EKDC Over Poor Power Supply and Crazy bills...

Residents of Amuwo Odofin in Festac Town, Lagos, under the aegis of Festac Town Resident Association (FTRA), on Friday, 27th February, 2015, staged a peaceful protest against the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC), over persistent poor power supply since 2014, outrageous electricity bills in the midst of darkness and failure of power consumers to get the pre-paid meter


The demonstration, which was highly successful, had in its ranks the youths, elderly, retired workers, women, prominent community members, Lagos State House of Assembly member, Sultan Adeniji-Adele, among many others. Residents came out in their numbers from all around amuwo Odofin to Festac Town at S-Close, 23 Road, the EKDC office to stage their protest, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs. 

The protest which was scheduled to start by 8.30am ended starting around 10am to give room for enough participants to arrive. The proceedings of the demonstration was covered by TV Continental and overseen by Security personnel from Festac Police Station, Area E Division.

The protesters unanimously agreed that there will be no further payment of crazy electricity bills or any bills at all until there's stable power supply, among other resolutions.
